Dorothy Dunlap, 76, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2009 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at Ft. Phantom Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Fort Phantom Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Dorothy was born on January 1, 1933 in Lindsay, Oklahoma to John Whitney Leatherwood and Addie Pearl (Fox) Leatherwood. She graduated from Ranchvale, New Mexico High School and Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico. She taught school in Ft. Sumner, New Mexico and in Clovis, New Mexico. In 1990, Dorothy moved to Abilene from New Mexico. She was a member of Ft. Phantom Baptist Church.
Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents and her husband, Jackie Dunlap on October 26, 2005.
She is survived by one son, Kenny Dunlap and his wife Karen, of Ft. Phantom Lake; one daughter, Annette Taylor and her husband Don, of Clovis, New Mexico; five grandchildren: Kip Taylor (Natalie), Deedra Fuller (Duane), Dewey Taylor, Tabitha Ozuna (Gus), and Crystal Regalado (Mario). She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren: Summer, Brooke, Jacob and Tanner Fuller; Mia and Alyssa Ozuna; Kylee Taylor, Dominic McCall, Jeremiah Barrera.
