Doris Lavon Germany

Doris Lavon Germany (Dee), 76, of Abilene, Texas, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, October 25, 2018.  Funeral services will be held in the chapel at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, on Monday, October 29, at 10:30AM with Mark Bradley officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will re­ceive visitors from 3:00 to 5:00PM Sunday, October 28, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home. Doris Lavon was born August 2, 1942, in Stamford, Texas, to the late Earl Gaines Simpkins, and the late Autney Margie (Lawhon) Simpkins Nash. When a young girl, she lived in Stamford, TX, and Dallas, TX, but most of her school years were in Odessa, TX where she met her future husband, J. Ray Germany. They were married in Dallas, TX on September 29, 1966.

Dee was a full-time homemaker, and mother to her two boys. Dee had many friends and was loved by all who knew her. She was a member of Southern Hills Church of Christ.

Dee is survived by her husband of 52 years, J. Ray Germany of Abilene; her two sons, Mike and Robyne Germany and their daughters Kayla, and Meghan of Houston, Texas, and Tony and Angela Germany and their sons Christian, and Ryan of Caroga Lake, New York.

She was preceded in death by brothers Troy Simpkins and Preston Simpkins, and two sisters, Becky Simpkins, and Margie Stevens.

She leaves behind two brothers: Bob Simpkins and wife, Joy of Odessa, TX; Eddie Simpkins and wife Mary of Abilene; one sister, Zoann Price of Abilene; close friend, Josie Laguna; and many wonderful cousins. 

The family expresses much appreciation and thanks to the ICU nurses at Abilene Regional Medical Center who took care of her, and Dr. Brian Ganesh.
