Donna Maurine Wheeler

Donna Maurine Wheeler, 58, went to be with the Lord on April 29, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on November 26, 1956 in Dilley, Texas, to Billy Joe and Peggy Green White. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Wheeler of Abilene; two daughters, Michael Anne Behrens and husband, Edward, of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Kellye Wheeler of Abilene; one grandson, Matthew Behrens; one brother, Dale White and wife, Leigh, of Sweetwater; two sisters, Dian Seymore and husband, David, of Merkel, Deborah DuBose and husband, Danny, of New Braunfels; two aunts, Norma Lee Green of Merkel, and Mary Bradford of Tomball; 7 nephews, 6 nieces, and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dick White. Donna graduated from Merkel High School in 1975 and McMurry College in 1980. She was a dedicated teacher for 34 years in the Merkel ISD and retired in 2013. She was a longtime member of Lytle South Baptist Church and was a woman of strong faith. She loved her family, and had a passion for genealogy and church activities. She also loved photography, cooking for her family, and fishing (if they were biting). Visitation will be on Friday, May 1, 2015 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, Texas. Her funeral service will be on Saturday, May 2, 2015 beginning at 1:00 pm at Lytle South Baptist Church, 1125 E. Industrial Boulevard, Abilene, Texas. Reverend Rodney Watson will officiate.
