Donivan “Don” Dewayne Hurst, 89, of Abilene passed away on Friday, October 10, 2014.
The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 13, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 14, in the Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories.
Don was born to Henry R. and Margaret Wingo Hurst on January 29, 1925 in Ft. Supply, Oklahoma. He married Ima Gene Stovall on July 17, 1959 in Midland, Texas.
After serving his country in the U.S. Air Force, Don worked as an electrician for Long Electric.
Don is preceded in death by his parents; son, Melvin “Maurice” Hurst; seven brothers, Virgil, Benjamin, Isaac, Aubrey, Cecil, Lavan, and Jack Hurst; and three sisters, Burnice Noll, Violetta Dixon and Mabel Jewitt.
Survivors include his wife, Ima Gene Hurst; one son, Bennie “Dwain” Hurst and wife Sherry of Abilene; one daughter, Donna “Susan” Hurst of Blanco, Texas; two sisters, Frances Ralston of Oklahoma City, OK., and Mary Gaston of Woodward, OK.; six grandchildren, Luke Hurst and wife Ann, Jeremy Hurst, Stephen Holloway and wife Debbie, Jennifer Lee and husband Willie, Elise Hurst, and Amber Hurst; and eight great-grandchildren.
