Donald Wayne Munson, 83, of Abilene, Texas went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 15, 2016 with his family by his side at The Heart Hospital Baylor in Plano, Texas. Rosary will be held at 5:30 p.m. followed by visitation from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 in the Chapel at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Fred Nawarskas and Rev. Donnie Voss officiating. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. at Saint Joachim Cemetery in Clyde, Texas. Donald was born in Dallas, Texas on October 10, 1932 to Johnie and Irene Munson. He married his sweetheart, Juanella Sue Voss, on September 14, 1957. He worked as a salesman and merchandiser for Pepsi Cola in Mesquite, Texas for 25 years. Donald was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He enjoyed traveling in his “RV” and looked forward to the Munson Family Reunion every summer. He loved Southern Gospel Music and found great comfort and peace singing and listening to his ‘favorites’ during his last few weeks. Donald was preceded in death by his birth father, Johnie Munson; his step-father, Joseph Munson; his mother, Irene Munson; brothers, Raymond and Johnie, Jr.; and sister, Ann Dezern. Donald is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sue Munson; daughter, Suzanne Morgan and husband, Scott of Lantana, Texas; son, Greg Munson and wife, Cindy of Mesquite, Texas; grandson, Stephen Morgan and wife, Keli of San Antonio, Texas; grandson, Shaun Morgan and wife, Brittany of Dallas, Texas; granddaughter, Sarah Morgan of Flower Mound, Texas; two great grandchildren due in October; brother, Jim Munson and wife, Beverly of Abilene, Texas; sister, Dorothy Caffey and husband, Curtis of Abilene, Texas; sister, Marie Marshall and husband, Robert of Florien, Louisiana; brother, Bernard Munson and wife, Teresa of Livingston, Texas and sister, Pat Smith of Fort Worth, Texas; brother-in-law, Marshall Dezern of Clyde, Texas; brother-in-law, Donnie Voss and wife, Judy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Gerald Voss and wife, Polly of Throckmorton, Texas; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Honorary Pallbearers will be grandsons, Stephen and Shaun Morgan. Pallbearers will be nephews: James Munson, David Caffey, Mark Caffey, Mike Dezern, Billy Dezern, Russ Marshall, Steve Munson and Steven Smith. The family of Donald Munson wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the doctors and staff of The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano for the excellent care and compassion extended to Donald and his family during his final days. Memorials may be given to a charity of donor’s choice.
