Donald E. Herron, 74, of Coleman, passed away Monday, July 27, 2009 at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Graveside services, with full military honors, will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, 7457 West Lake Road.
Donald was born February 8, 1935 in Pontiac, Michigan to Dale Herron and Dorothy Marie Johnson Herron.
In 1973, Donald retired after 20 years of service from the United States Air Force. He was a TSGT and instrument repairman and later became an instrument instructor for the C-5 A aircraft. After working 19 years as a technician, Donald retired from Texas Instruments in Midland, Texas in 1996.
On December 19, 1994, he married Pauline Wiggins Crow in Midland, Texas. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 4372 and a member of the Cotulla First United Methodist Church in Cotulla, Texas.
Donald was preceded in death by his first wife, Elaine Francis Baker Herron, his parents and one sister, Donna Jean Herron.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline W. Herron, of Coleman; his daughter, Laurel Lynn Herron Bradford and her husband, Rev. Scott Bradford, of Uvalde; his son, Dale Herron, of Midland; three step-sons, Gary Crow and his wife Susan, of Denison, Chuck Crow, of Coleman and Shawn Crow and his wife Shannon Marie, also of Coleman; one brother, Darrell Herron and his wife Donna, of Waterford, Michigan; one sister, Darlene Herron Dreiseidel and her husband Tony, of Lapeer, Michigan; two grandsons and three granddaughters.
