Don Holland, 76, of Clyde, Texas died Thursday, July 17, 2014 at an Abilene medical center.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday, July 20, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, with Chris McCurley officiating. Burial will follow in Potosi Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Born in Ellijay, Georgia on April 14, 1938, Don was the son of Catherine Irene (Chambers) and Arthur Russell Holland. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years, retiring with the rank of Tech Sergeant. Don loved people. He also retired from the City of Abilene as a bus driver for the Senior Citizens Division at Rose Park. His pastimes included restoring antique cars.
Don was a member of Oldham Lane Church of Christ in Abilene.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gene Holland; and one sister, Barbara Riley.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Holland of Clyde; two sons, Bobby Holland and wife Janan of Potosi, and Johnny Holland and wife Shan of Nugent, Texas; two daughters, Teresa Vickery and husband Jay of Potosi, and Angie Koonsman of Abilene; four sisters, Mary Ferguson, Margaret Shockley, Joyce Holland and Jackie Wilson, all of Georgia; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
