Don E. Hinshaw

Don E. Hinshaw, 73, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017 in Abilene.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at The Hamil Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd, Abilene, Texas 79606 with Pastor Jerry McNeil officiating.  Visitation will follow services.

Don was born in Anadarko, Oklahoma to Charles J. and Bonnie Hinshaw on April 4, 1944.  He went to high school in Wichita Falls, Texas where he graduated from Wichita Falls High.  Afterward he moved to Lubbock where he graduated with a bachelor’s in Business Administration from Texas Tech University.  On June 25, 1971, he married Linda Smith in Lubbock, Texas.  He worked for many years as a banker and then later worked for and retired from Abtex Beverage.  During his time as a banker, he was also involved with the Rotary Club.

Don was preceded in death his parents Charles J. and Bonnie Hinshaw and brother, Jim Hinshaw.

Don is survived by his spouse, Linda, daughter, Kimberly Hinshaw of Royse City, Texas, brother, Larry Hinshaw and wife Cricket of Reedsport, Oregon, and sister-in-law Sue Hinshaw of Placentia, California.  He is also survived by brother-in-law Randy Smith and wife Randy of Skiatook, Oklahoma, brother-in-law Larry Smith and wife Michelle of Houston, Texas, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given to Abilene State Supported Living Center Volunteer Services Council.  The family of Don Hinshaw wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all the doctors and nurses at Hendrick Medical Center and the EMS and fire department responders.
