Dolores Ellis

Dolores (Allison) Ellis, 84, passed away on July 5th, 2012 in her home in Dallas, Texas, following a long bout with leukemia. Dolores was born March 13, 1928 in Woodson, Texas in Throckmorton County to Darrell and Vava Allison. She was the middle sibling of the predeceased older sister Joyce Kennedy and younger brother Buck Allison. She was married to the love of her life on June 7, 1947 in Kilgore, Texas. She worked at West Texas Utilities in Abilene for approximately 10 years in the 1950's and beginning in the early 70's worked for Dr. Joe Hodges, DDS for approximately 15 years. She resided in Abilene, Texas for 56 years and has resided in Dallas, Texas for the past 41/2 years. She faithfully attended Pioneer Drive Baptist Church while residing in Abilene. We'd love to tell you more but she always said she hated long obituaries. She is survived by her spouse of 65 years Mr. James E. Ellis, daughter Linda Halbert and her husband Jon, and her grandchildren Lindsey, Alex and Heather Halbert. A celebration service will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 1:30 PM at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the services at the church. Mrs. Ellis will be available for viewing on Monday, July 9th from 3:00 to 8:00 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
