Dickie Loraine Haggard

Dickie Loraine Willis Haggard, 92, of Abilene, passed away on May 31, 2017 in Abilene. Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 4th at The Hamil Family Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held 2:00, Monday, June 5th at Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery with John Thomas Willis officiating. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Dickie was born in Lawn, Texas to Dick and Jewel Preslar Willis on April 2, 1925. She went to school at Lawn. She graduated from Lawn High School and Draughn's Business College in Abilene. She married Olen "Soapie" Haggard on December 17, 1949 in Abilene, Texas. She was a homemaker devoted to her family. She was an avid bowler. She was a former president of the Abilene Hotel/Motel Association. Dickie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Fern Carr and three brothers Roy Willis, W.T. "Tubby" Willis and Billy Don Willis and son-in-law William O "Bill" Ganus. Dickie is survived by daughter, Norma Ganus of Abilene, son, Carrol and wife Lynn Haggard of Hays, Kansas, sister Anita Dumis of Abilene, brother Lonnie Willis of Weatherford, granddaughter Laurie Drought of Lubbock, and great-grandchildren, Stephanie Trevino, Kimberly Trevino, and Tommy Trevino, and two great-great grandchildren.
