Denise Kellie Pursley, 45, of Buffalo Gap, Texas, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, December 28, 2014 in Abilene.
The daughter of Deanna (Bird) Pursley and the late David Pursley, Denise was born on June 15, 1969 in Midland, Texas. A 1987 graduate of Wylie High School and a 1992 graduate of Texas Tech University, she taught school in both the Lubbock and Slaton, Texas Public School Systems. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Buffalo Gap. Denise will always be remembered by those who knew her best as someone who wasn’t very good at keeping Christmas surprises, would never turn down the chance to collect a new journal, and always had the funniest stories and comebacks. Her passion for helping others and ability to see a little good in everyone left a mark on this world that will not be soon forgotten.
Denise is survived by her son, Cale Romick, and daughter, Talon Romick, both of Lubbock; her mother, Deanna Pursley of Buffalo Gap; one sister, Dayna Ross and husband Tommy of Buffalo Gap; and three nieces, Taylor, Jordan and Bradee.
A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2015 in Buffalo Gap Cemetery with Rev. Jim Ritter officiating, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.
Pallbearers will be Joel Bird, Bart Pursley, Hugh Sandifer, Billy Mac Swanzy, Jacky Reynolds and Cory Farmer.
