Debra J. Strickland

Debra J. Strickland, 52, of Abilene, passed away Monday, June 25, 2012 at her home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Mike Raughton will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Debra was born August 23, 1959 in Lubbock, Texas to E.C. and Roxanne (McNeely) Smith. In 1977 she graduated from Wolfforth High School in Lubbock. Debra married Bernie Lee Strickland on July 8, 1982 in Abilene. She worked as a Loan Officer for the Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union since 2002. Debra was a member of Beltway Park Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Bernie Strickland; her parents, E.C. and Roxanne Smith; her daughter, Courtney Young and husband Ryan; her brother, Floyd Smith and wife Roxanne, all of Abilene; her sister, Sharon Tackett of Bloomington, Illinois; and one grandchild, Shyloh Young of Abilene. Phil Raughton, Allen Raughton, Cory Tucker, Lanny Tucker and Verlon Strickland will serve as pallbearers. Memorial donations may be made in Debra's honor to Hendrick Hospice Care, 1682 Hickory St., Abilene, Texas 79601.
