Deborah Dawn Sedberry Ivey lost her courageous three year battle with cancer at Hendrick Hospice September 21, 2010 surrounded by family. She fought her battle with such grace and dignity while enduring the endless pain and suffering.
Deborah was born in Stamford, Texas on May 15, 1974, the daughter of Brenda (Hisey) Castleberry and Van Sedberry. She was a 1992 graduate of Clyde High School. Deborah worked for the Abilene Reporter-News in sales in the Advertisement Department.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Lou Hisey; grandfather, Morris Sedberry; grandmother, Ola Muriel Sedberry; and stepfather, Willie Castleberry.
Deborah is survived by her son, Riley Ivey of Abilene; father, Van Sedberry of Rule, Texas; mother, Brenda Castleberry of Abilene; grandfather, John Hisey of Rule; two brothers, Tim Whitley of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Steve Castleberry of Abilene; and sister, Susan Toponce and husband Chris of Abilene. Survivors also include uncles and aunts, Danny Hisey and wife Melinda, and Don Hisey, all of Rule, and Danny Sedberry of Abilene, and Trish Austin of Abilene; niece, Stormie Bethel and nephew, Ethan Toponce; and numerous cousins. Also survived by soul mate, Brian Troquille of Abilene, best friend, Brad Ivey and wife Leslie of Abilene.
Her courage and strength was an inspiration to her family to live everyday with hope and love. She will forever be our hero and our rock. Although cancer took her body from us, her spirit will live in our family forever.
While everyday will never be the same, we are comforted knowing she is no longer in pain and is at peace.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 25, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, with John Greeson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The family would like to express a very heartfelt "Thank You" to Dr. Balbastro and the caring and compassionate staff of Hendrick Hospice along with the nurses on Parker 7.
