Deborah Lynn Zanchettin DeBerry, 53, of Abilene, passed away Friday, February 13, 2009 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. Funeral services will be at11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at Beltway Park Baptist Church. Mark Hewitt, Doug Roysden and Chad Mitchell will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
June 20, 1955, Debbie was born in Portland, Oregon to Dante "Doc" and Betty (Breeding) Zanchettin. She graduated from Amarillo Caprock High School and attended West Texas State in Canyon, Texas. Debbie married Jim DeBerry in Amarillo, Texas on December 18, 1976. She moved to Abilene from Grand Junction, Colorado in 1983. Debbie was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority, the Big Country Emmaus Community and Beltway Park Baptist Church.
Debbie was a loving wife, mother and daughter who never failed to put others before herself. She loved to travel with her family, from snow skiing in the Colorado mountains to lounging on the beaches of Hawaii. Debbie was always such a gracious hostess to all her family and friends, in times of need or in times of celebration. She was a wonderful homemaker as well as a fantastic cook and many of her recipes will be hard to beat. With Allstate Insurance, Debbie and her husband were co-owners of The DeBerry Agency. She received the National Champions Sales Award and won Honor Ring Award several times during her career.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dante Zanchettin and one nephew, Tyler. Debbie is survived by her mother, Betty Zanchettin, of Amarillo; her husband, Jim DeBerry, of Abilene; one son, Brent James DeBerry and one daughter, Kendra DeBerry, both of Abilene; one brother, Steve Zanchettin and his wife Cathy, of Arlington; nieces and nephews, Jana, Jessie, Travis and Tanner.
