Debora Marek

September 2, 1953 — December 7, 2023

Debora Holcomb Marek, 70, of Abilene, passed away in her home on  December 7, 2023, in Abilene, Texas, surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with "Pastor K" Clyde Kieschnick officiating. Burial will follow at the Estes Family Cemetery in Clyde, Texas. Debora, more commonly known as "Nahna," was born on September 2, 1953, in Abilene, Texas, to Kenneth Wayne Holcomb and Wanda Jean Estes. Debora graduated from Clyde High School in 1972 and Angelo State University in 1974 with her ADN. Debora worked as a Registered Nurse for over forty-five years. Debora loved her "nurse friends," as she would call them, who became sisters to her. Debora married the love of her life, Johnny Marek, on August 23, 1975, in Clyde, Texas.

Debora was a woman of many roles. She was an amazing grandmother, sister, caretaker, and friend; the list could go on and on. She was kind, compassionate, and an incredibly strong woman. Debora lost her daughter in 2015 and her husband in 2021 but never lost her drive to continue on. She persevered and never lost her gleam. She loved her grandbabies fiercely. Debora put others first and was a friend to all. She was beautiful on the inside and out and took care of everyone.

Debora was preceded in death by her mother, Wanda Jean Holcomb; father-in-law, Charles James Marek Jr.; Husband, Johnny Marek; and her daughter and best friend, Jamie Horner.

Debora is survived by her father, Kenneth Holcomb, son-in-law Luke Horner; three beautiful grandchildren: Bella Horner, Kingston Horner, and Charlee Horner; two sisters, Marsha Lewis and Karon Pass; three nieces, Jennifer Taylor, Tiffany Hicks, and Aimee Pass, and mother-in-law Donnie Marek.

Pallbearers will be Doug Horner, Luke Horner, Kingston Horner, Grant Reyes, Randy Stovall, and Greg Terrell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Eddie Graham, Mike Haley,  and Kenneth Holcomb.

The family of Debora Marek wishes to extend our sincerest thanks to the amazing nurses and staff at West Texas Rehab's Hospice of the Big Country, with an extra big thank you to Dianna, Zion Lutheran Church, the Keishnick family, the Tavera family, and all her wonderful friends who made her know how loved she was. Thank you for your care and compassion for our Nahna.
