David Griffitts Wilkerson, 45, died Monday, February 9, 2009 in Conroe, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2009 at Elmwood Memorial Park. Terry Brown will officiate, assisted by Everett Ferguson. Family visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. David was born November 2, 1963 in Pensacola, Florida to Wyman T. Wilkerson and Billye (Fox) Wilkerson. He attended Merkel High School and graduated from Abilene Christian High School. David attended Abilene Christian University and graduated from Texas A & M University. He owned and operated a landscaping business. For the past 10 years he lived in Chilton, Texas. David was a member of the Marlin Gift Street Church of Christ. David was preceded in death by one, sister Sherry Simmering. He is survived by his parents, Wyman and Billye Wilkerson, of Abilene; his grandmother, Dee Faubus and step-grandfather, Overton Faubus, of Abilene; one brother, Mark Wilkerson and his wife Louise and their children Clay, Katy and Creed, all of Stephenville, Texas; one sister, Dion Hammond and her husband Kyle and their children Cody, Caroline and Catherine, all of Midland, Texas; one brother-in-law, Pete Simmering, of Childress, Texas and his son, Jake Simmering, of Dumas, Texas. Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
