David W. Thedford, 65, of Abilene, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at his home in Abilene.
David was born on April 24, 1955 to Jack and JoAnn (Schroeder) Thedford. He and Mary Elizabeth Hensley were married on August 15, 2013 in Abilene. Eager to begin his Law Practice, he moved to Abilene in 1984 from Houston.
In his youth, David was an amazing athlete. He won many championships in both baseball with his amazing pitching skills, and was published for his star football talent while living in Germany where his father was stationed while serving in the United States Airforce. David received and his B.A. from Southwest Texas State University and his J.D. from South Texas College of Law. He was the founder and attorney of the Thedford Law Firm. David was selected as a President’s Circle Member into the Top Attorneys of North America 2019-2020 edition by The Who’s Who Directories. He was a member of the Texas Bar Association, Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers TCDLA, and Abilene Bar Association. Additionally, he was recognized by Martindale-Hubbell, 2017 Distinguished Attorney, BV Rated Attorney 2015, and Client Rating, 2015. David’s desire and determination to best has made him a champion athlete, attorney, husband, father, and friend!!
David was preceded in death by his mother, JoAnn Thedford and one sister, Joan Brown. He is survived by his wife Mary of Abilene; one son, Ben Thedford and wife Rachel of Lake Mary Florida; one daughter, Avery Thedford and husband Matt of Lake Mary, Florida; one stepson, Jonah Smoot of Raleigh, North Carolina; his father, Jack Thedford of Abilene; one brother, Dean Thedford of Weatherford; one sister, Liz Ille and husband Ron of Abilene; and five grandchildren.

David will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. He will be remembered as a devoted husband and father as well as one of the most amazing, determined, brilliant, ruthless, sweet, strong, courageous men as an ultimate fighter, survivor and champion!!
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 11, 2021 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel with Ray Thompson, officiating. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
