James David McClure, 78, of Ovalo, Texas, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at an Abilene care center.
David was born in Caps, Texas on September 10, 1934. He graduated from Eula High School in 1953 and received his Bachelor of Education from McMurry University. He married Rosa Lee Brock on March 5, 1955 in Eula, Texas. He was a member of Tuscola United Methodist Church and had been a teacher and coach in Jim Ned Schools for 29 years.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Austin Earl McClure and Ella Virginia “Virgie” McClure, and brother, Buck McClure.
Survivors include his wife, Rosa Lee McClure of Ovalo; four children and their spouses, Mikey McClure and Cleone, Rick McClure and Donna, Jeff McClure and Robbi, and Melinda Ikeler and Rick all of Ovalo; sisters, Mildred Warren of Eula, and Nancy Rogers and husband Bill of Cedar Gap, Texas; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, at Tuscola United Methodist Church with Marcy Grun and Ryan Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow in Buffalo Gap Cemetery under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Arnett McClure, Chris McClure, Tommy Bryant, Marshal McClure, Clinton McClure, Eric Ikeler and Nicholas McClure.
