David Paredes Garcia, 74, of Colorado City, Texas passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at a nursing facility in Big Spring, Texas.
The son of the late Angelina (Paredes) and Manuel Garcia, David was born on April 13, 1943 in Colorado City, Texas. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served from 1965 to 1967. David worked as a carpenter and painter. He was a Catholic.
David is survived by his wife, Janie Chavez Garcia of Colorado City; three sons, David Garcia, Jr. of Midland, Samuel Garcia and wife Melisa of Abilene, and Jaime David Garcia of Wichita Falls, TX; two daughters, Leticia G. Reyes and husband Miguel, and Monica Garcia and husband Angel, all of Abilene; and fifteen grandchildren. Survivors also include David’s his twin brother, Daniel Garcia of Abilene, and Manuel Garcia of McKinney; four sisters, Linda Moreno of Abilene, Angelina Mallon of Garden Grove, CA, Lydia Fernandez of Abilene, and Yvonne Rodriguez of Plano.
A visitation will be held from 6:30 to 7:00PM Thursday, February 22, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, followed by a prayer service/rosary to begin at 7:00PM. Funeral services will be held at 8:30AM Friday, February 23, at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church in Abilene officiated by Father Lorenzo Hatch. The committal service will follow at 10:00AM at Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home, 1809 N. Hwy 87, Big Spring, TX 79720.
