David Chase

1924 — April 29, 2007

David Chase, Jr., 82, died Sunday, April 29, 2007 in a local care center. A funeral service, with Reverends John Sanders, Paul Byars and Jack Dominguez officiating, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2007 in Tye Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Tye Cemetery under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. David was born June 28, 1924 in Tye, Texas to David Chase, Sr. and Lulu Strutton Chase. He graduated from Abilene High School and served his country in the U. S. Navy during WW II. After the war, David began his banking career in Abilene at the Citizens National Bank. He later moved to the First National Bank of Odessa, Texas where he worked for over 31 years until his retirement. Mr. Chase was a member of the American Business Men's Club, the Chuck Wagon Gang, Board Member of the American Red Cross, and an active member of St. Andrews Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He married June Harrison in Odessa on May 23, 1975. The couple moved back to Abilene in May of 1998 and were members of St. James United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his children, Audry Goudeau Chase; two brothers, Jesse and Thomas Chase; three sisters, Lillie Mae Rister, Jewell Claxton, and Lucille Armstrong. Survivors include: his wife, June Harrison Chase of Abilene; three sons, Gerald L. Chase of Indianapolis, Indiana, Wilson E. Dolman and wife Martha of Austin, Texas and Ronald R. Dolman and wife Carol of Bethany, Oklahoma; four daughters, Brenda Ann Morey and husband Dennis of Koneha, Hawaii, Suzanne Guyton and husband Paul of Austin, Texas, Paula Berg and husband Ed of Salida, Colorado, and Deborah Morris and husband Aaron of Thomasville, North Carolina; a brother, William Chase and wife Carol of Roseland, New Jersey; four sisters, Ladell Rister of Merkel, Texas, Ollie Byars of Graham, Texas, Ruth Clark and husband John of Merkel, Texas, Dolores Leeson and husband Kirby of Abilene; nineteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Robert Hawkins, Curtis Rister, Wayne Rister, Ossie Carroll Rister, Mike Newton, and Jerry Byars. Memorials may be made to Sears Methodist Hospice, 3233 South Willis, Abilene, Texas 79605 or to Tye United Methodist Church Youth Ministries, 205 Taylor St. Tye, Texas 79563.
