Darrow Brooks

Darrow Brooks, 62, of Buffalo Gap, TX, went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 6, 2023, in Abilene, TX.

Visitation will start at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.

Funeral services will immediately follow at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home with the Pastor Jason Studdard of Heartland Church, Brownwood, TX, officiating.   Burial will follow at Buffalo Gap Cemetery.  

Darrow was born in Abilene to Gene & JoAnn Brooks on September 23, 1960.  He went to school in Abilene, and he graduated from Cooper High School. He married Eda Parker on November 10, 1984, in Abilene. He worked as a sales rep for Frito Lay & Nabisco for 15 years at Frito Lay & 16 years with Nabisco.  

Darrow loved his family dearly.  He was an amazing provider, husband, father, brother, and son.   He always forgave and saw the good in everyone.

Darrow had a passion for music, and he especially loved fishing, camping, water skiing and always made sure summers with family were fun.  

Darrow was preceded in death by his brother Terry Brooks, both parents, grandparents, and his loving son Tyler Brooks. 

Darrow is survived by his bride of 39 years, Eda Brooks, his daughter, Heather Coleman and her husband Russell, son, Kelly Brooks, grandsons, Russell II, Noah, Link, Parker, Conner & sweet granddaughters, Ginger and Luna, his sister, Robin and her husband George Carroll, daughter in law, Micheala Brooks and a slew of cousins and nieces & nephews.

Pallbearers will be Butch Burleson, Mike Burleson, Bruce Burleson, Steve Wilson, Tommy Wilson, Kirk Miller, Russell Coleman II, and Noah Coleman.  Honorary pallbearer will be Monty Roden.
