NECROLOGY
OF
Danny Jay Rogers
And lo I heard a voice from heaven say, "Write....." The text describes those who die in the Lord are blessed. This text reflects and reveals the life of our beloved. Danny Jay Rogers was born November 30, 1947, to Ellis Harold and Tessie Henry Rogers in Abilene, Tx. He was the oldest son and middle child of three children. He grew up in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church and accepted Christ at an early age. It was there that he learned how to respect his siblings and older adults. He was caring, sensitive, dutiful, compassionate, a hard worker, a lover of his family, and sometimes even a bit devilish. These characteristics were essential in developing the man that he became.
Time is as fragile as a blade of grass; the life he lived is seed for the family and our faith. Danny married Karen Washington on January 1, 1993, in Dallas, Tx. This marriage was built upon love, commitment, and faithfulness. These years were a divine gift and will always be treasured.
Danny was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, a Woodson High School alumni, and lifelong resident of Abilene. He was preceded in death by his parents and his survivors include his wife, Karen Rogers of Abilene, children, Sterling and Shelby of the home; Terrence and wife, LaTonya of Houston; one brother, Billy Ray Rogers; and one sister, Carolyn and husband, Judge Thomas G. Jones of Dallas; one niece, Regina; one nephew, Brandon; one great nephew, Logan and two grandchildren; many cousins and friends.
Funeral services are 10:00, Saturday, July 8, 2006, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, burial following at the City Cemetery.
