Daniel R. Jones

Daniel Rodney Jones died at the age of 76 on January 3, 2014 with family by his side in Abilene, Texas. Dan attended McMurry University and Tarleton State University earning both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Business Administration. He spent his career working in both small business and educational fields, with the past 11 years as part of IT staff at McMurry University. Military service included the Army National Guard of the United States and the United States Marine Corps. Dan is survived by his wife of 37 years Laura Jones; sons, Danny Jones, Kevin (Andrea) Davis; daughters, Sheri Gladden, Teri (Sam) Lopez, Cari Hilsinger, Kris Davis-Jones and Nikki Jones; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. Dan will be laid to rest in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in a private service on Thursday.
