Daniel Henning

Daniel David Henning, 47, of the Republic of Texas, passed away on January 15, 2025, in Tuscola, Texas, after battling Ocular Melanoma.

Visitation will be on Sunday, January 19 from 3-5pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, located at 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd. There will also be a viewing held at Beltway Park Church South, located at 4009 Beltway South, Monday, January 20th, from 9am-10am.

Funeral services will be held at 10am on Monday, January 20th, at Beltway Park Church South, immediately followed by a private burial. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home.

Daniel Henning was born in Creve Coeur, Missouri to Mark Lewis Henning and Janet Lynn (Zwetz) Henning on March 21, 1977. He attended and graduated from Kennedale High School in Kennedale, Texas before attending and graduating at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Daniel began a career with Arlington Police Department where he achieved the rank of Sergeant. During his nearly ten years with Arlington PD, he received a life-saving award for his bravery and selflessness after rescuing a victim from a raging house fire.

In 2010, Daniel and his family left the U.S. to serve as full time missionaries in Nicaragua. Prior to this, he had also served as a Youth Pastor and Elder at the Vine Fellowship in Arlington, Texas.

After coming back to the U.S. in 2013, he continued his career in law enforcement with the Abilene Police Department, totaling close to 21 years of service, with his last role being a School Resource Officer for Craig Middle School and Cooper High School. During his time with Abilene PD, he met his wife, Aymee, marrying her on January 27, 2017.

Daniel is survived by his wife Aymee Henning, son Luke Henning, daughter Jade Borchert and her husband Alex, daughter Katelyn Henning, brother Ben Henning and his wife Rachel and their sons Noah and Evan, sister Liz Fene and her husband Rolfe, and his parents Mark and Jan Henning.

Pallbearers will be members of the Abilene Police Department Honor Guard. Honorary Pallbearers will be his fellow Youth/SRO officers:

Cody Dikes, Cody Brown, Dave Cox, Chris Volirakis, Clint Coapland, and Jay Tollison.

The Henning Family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to both sworn and civilian members of the Abilene Police Department, Abilene Back the Badge Foundation, Abilene Police Officers Association, Beltway Park Church, Kinder Hearts Home Health and Hospice, as well as the dedicated medical staff at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
