Dana Gay Rideout, 54, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2008 at a local hospital. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, September 24 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services, with Phil Ware, Steve Ridgell, Terry Chrane and Jonathan Straker officiating, will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, September 25 at the Highway 36 Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the Tecumseh Cemetery.
Dana was born in Abilene, Texas on August 22, 1954 to Harvey and Janice (Barton) Wise. She graduated from Abilene Christian High School and Abilene Christian University with a bachelor's degree in teaching. Dana was a native of Abilene. She grew up in the Southern Hills Church of Christ and was now a member of the Highway 36 Church of Christ. Dana has worked with and supported the American Quarter Horse Association, Southwest Reined Cow Horse Association, National Reined Cow Horse Association as well as many others.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harvey T. Wise and one sister, Sheila Wise. Dana is survived by her husband, Teryl Rideout, of Baird; her mother, Janice Martin, of Abilene; one son, Colby Rideout, of Baird; one daughter, Danyelle Hemphill and her husband Heath, of Coleman; one sister, Darla McLeod, of Abilene; and two grandchildren, Ethan and Hadley Hemphill.
