Curtis Eugene Loard, 62, of Abilene, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014 in Abilene, Texas.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 31, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel with Don Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in Ross Cemetery Annex in Baird, Texas.
Curtis was born in Breckenridge to Robert and Grace Loard on June 2, 1952. He went to Cooper High School in Abilene and Abilene Christian University. He married Sheila Saunders on December 8, 1990 in Abilene. He worked as a sociologist for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Abilene. Curtis was an active member of the South Eleventh and Willis Church of Christ. He was involved in the Christian Motorcycle Association, the Big Country Emmaus Community, and the Region Six Honor Guard.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Grace Loard.
Curtis is survived by his wife, Sheila Loard; his son, Christopher Loard; his daughter, Amanda Cox and her husband Tony; his brother, David Loard and his wife Carolyn; his two granddaughters, Kaylee and Hannah Cox; his nephew, Rhett Saunders, and other nieces and a nephew; his sister-in-law, Sandra Konczak and her husband Mike; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Saunders and his wife Lisa. He is also survived by several cousins and many friends.
Pallbearers will be Rhett Saunders, Michael Konczak, Kenneth Dayberry, Kevin Parker, Jeffrey Channell and Jerry Drummond. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Saunders, David Loard, Mike Konczak and Tony Cox.
