Craig Morris

1959 — November 5, 2015

Carlton Craig Morris, 56, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2015, in Abilene, Texas at Hendrick Medical Center. Visitation will be Sunday, November 8th, from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 9th, at Beltway Park Church, 4009 Beltway South, with Mike Hill of Beltway Park officiating. Craig was born in Hobbs, NM to Kenneth and Sandra Morris on October 19, 1959. He graduated from Midland Lee High School and attended Midland College. He married Lori McGhee on July 27, 2001 in Abilene. He was a truck driver for Southeastern Freight Lines for almost 10 years. Craig was involved in several community organizations. Craig was preceded in death by both sets of his grandparents, Allen “PePa” and Nina Bell Morris and Pete and Sissy Burkett, and his father, Kenneth Dale Morris of Lake Coleman. Craig is survived by his spouse, Lori Morris; his children, Amanda Rubio and her husband Victor Rubio of Spring, TX, Christopher Craig Morris and Britny Wise of Abilene, Meagan Wallace and her husband Stephen of Abilene, Abigayle Morris of Canyon, and two stepsons, Justin Benson of Glen Rose, and Chance Benson and Danielle Pace of Sweetwater; one sister, Laura Diane Morris of Midland, TX; his mother, Sandra Morris of Midland; and nine grandchildren. Craig had a passion for life and for people, he made that clear every day. He lived life to the fullest. He touched so many lives and had a special impact with every person he came in contact with by making them feel special. I don’t know anyone who had ever met Craig that didn’t remember him. God was first. He loved to see people turn their lives over to God. He believed everyone was capable of change. He involved himself in ministries including Big Country Emmaus - Big Country Kairos and the Taylor County Jail volunteer chaplain services. He also loved any organization that helped people in need. He volunteered with Boots on the Ground and also looked forward to spending the last several summers as a youth church camp counselor. Craig also enjoyed various other activities with his friends and family. He always welcomed an opportunity for food and fellowship. He enjoyed spending time playing with his grandchildren when he could; he enjoyed spending time at the lake and any other adventure he could think of. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Goodman and Dr. Templeton, and the wonderful nurses and staff with Hendrick Hospice, and of course our amazing church family at Beltway Park. Donations may be made to Beltway Park Boots on the Ground ministry at 4009 Beltway South, Abilene, TX 79606.
