Courtney Layne Ramsey, 35, of Abilene, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018 in Abilene, Texas.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 11th, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 12th, at Church of the Heavenly Rest, Episcopal with The Reverend Andrew Van Kirk of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in McKinney, Texas, and The Rev. N. Luke Back, Rector, officiating. A private inurnment will follow at the Church of the Heavenly Rest Columbarium.
Courtney was born in Abilene to Bush Ramsey and Carol Whisenhunt on November 8, 1982. She went to school at Wylie Schools, and graduated from Hardin Simmons University. She worked as a counselor. She was involved in Junior League of Abilene, an avid scuba diver, and a lover of all dogs. She was known for her love of children, especially her nieces and friends’ children. Courtney had a compassion for helping others in any way she could.
Courtney is survived by sister Whitney Petree and husband Chance Petree and their three children Ryann Petree, Claira Grace Petree, and Olivia Petree; her father Bush Ramsey and wife Cindy Ramsey; her mother Carol Whisenhunt; and grandmother Martha Wisenhunt. She is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Mark McCarty, Ricci Rowe, Trey Morris, Ronny Whisenhunt, Philip Doan, and Barton Cox.
Memorials may be given to Hendrick Children’s Hospital or Hendrick Hospice Care.
The family of Courtney wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Hendrick Cancer Center, Hendrick Hospice Care, and her entire medical team.
