Corrie Ann Hamer

Corrie Ann Hamer, 45, of Abilene passed away from the loving arms of her dear and beloved friends and coworkers at Abilene Regional Medical Center into the arms of the Lord on September 30, 2010. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Monday, October 4th, 2010 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, October 5th, 2010 at Lytle South Baptist Church, where Corrie was a member for over a decade. Brother Rodney Watson will officiate. Corrie was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to George and Lorraine Ferguson on December 13th, 1964. She received her diploma in Nursing at Lethbridge Community College where she graduated top of her class and continued to obtain numerous certifications and accreditations. She passionately worked as an RN for 16 years which she pursued after the passing of her 9 month old son from meningitis and her own personal struggles of corrective heart operations due to a heart defect since birth. Corrie made a conscious decision not to have anyone she loved or came in contact with suffer as she did - which only made her passion for life and nursing even stronger. Corrie was a heart transplant recipient on February 4, 2003 and lived a vigorous, caring, loving life. She is dearly missed by many loved ones, coworkers and patients whom she ever blessed to be in her presence. Corrie was preceded in death by her parents George and Lorraine Ferguson, husband Daryl Cale, son Randy "Blake" Andrus, and brother-in-law Wesley Hamer. Corrie is survived by her husband Donald Hamer, children Tiffany Jenkins and Dillon Andrus as well as close step-children Michelle Scoville, Noelle Hamer, and Cameron Hamer, and grand-daughter Caley Jenkins. Pallbearers will be Beau McCrory, Ron Meader, Joseph Hamer, Louis Arocho, Mike Hamer and Randy Andrus. Memorials may be made in honor of Corrie to the American Heart Association, 149 N. Willis St. Suite 10, Abilene, TX 79603. The Hamer family wishes to extend many thanks to the staff at Abilene Regional, co-workers, friends and loved ones.
