Corine Ingram

1926 — November 12, 2018

Corine Nelson Ingram, loving wife, mother, and “Mammaw” died on November 12, 2018 after 92 wonderful years.

   Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.

   She was born on May 16, 1926 in Brady, Texas to Emil W. Nelson and Alice Hanson Nelson. Corine graduated from Melvin High School. She came to Abilene and graduated from Draughan’s Business College. It was during this time she met and married the love of her life, Carl Lee Ingram from Marlin, Texas. They were married August 21, 1948 at Elliott’s Chapel of Memories, she and Carl lived in Abilene with the exception of a few years in Aspermont and Boerne.

   Corine was a housewife, bookkeeper for Connally-Stephens Company and secretary for First Baptist Church, where she was actively involved in Sunday School and various other ministries. She was also in the Breakfast Club for 50 years, President of Aggie Mom’s Club, a realtor and a partner in Ingram Cleaners. She was famously known for her cooking and won numerous ribbons in the West Texas Fair. She loved to square dance and later in life, she began piano lessons. Corine was a Swede, loved her coffee, cookies and chocolate.

   Without a doubt, throughout her life, Corine exemplified her love and service for the Lord.

   Corine was preceded in death by, her parents, brother; Warren Nelson and her husband, Carl Lee Ingram.

   Corine is survived by brother; Curtis Nelson of Santa Fe, NM, Children; Lynn Ingram and wife Linda, Ron Ingram and wife Dotty, Susie Wright and husband Brett, all of Abilene; grandchildren; Austin Ingram, Stephanie Jacques (Zach), Leslie Ingram, Kyle Turner (Amy) Nelson Ingram (Rachel), Jerod Wright (Cathryn), Toni Leonard (Mat), and seven great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

   Honorary pallbearers will be; Kyle Turner, Austin Ingram, Jerod Wright, Mat Leonard, Zach Jacques and Nelson Ingram.

   A special thank you to the caregivers who have been so wonderful to Corine; Kim Bernal, Julie Boger, Lou Bridges, Rolanda Crawford, Deanna Henderson and Laurie Ince.

   Memorials may be given to City Lights Ministries, 340 Hickory St., Abilene, Texas 79601.
