Connie Giles Holladay

Connie Giles Holladay, 65, of Abilene, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 in Abilene.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Saturday January 30, 2021 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2021 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Cliff Stewart, officiating. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home.

Connie was born on September 16, 1955 in Winters, Texas to Velma (Mowles) and Lloyd Giles. She married Rayburn Holladay on July 24, 1976 in Drasco, Texas. She and Rayburn moved to Abilene in 1977 from Wichita Falls, Texas.

Connie was a loving caregiver and touched many lives throughout her career. She worked as a Registered Nurse for Hendrick Medical Center for 32 years.  She was instrumental in the development of the 7th Floor Inpatient Hospice while at Hendrick. She worked for Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo for 6 years before joining Hospice of the Big Country in Abilene for 6 years. She enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, estate sales, her dog Toby, and most of all spending time with her granddaughter, Greer. Connie was a member of the Potosi Baptist Church.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Velma Lee Giles, and her sister-in-law, Mary Giles. Survivors include her husband Rayburn of Abilene; daughter, Trudy Six and husband Greg and their daughter Greer all of Abilene; brother, Lynn Giles of Iola, Texas; sister, Lesa Monical and husband Mark of Corpus Christi, Texas; five nieces, Amy, Lori, Katie, Stacy, and Kelsey; and nephew, Casey.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

The family of Connie Holladay wishes to extend our sincere appreciation to all the nurses, doctors and staff in the ICU at Hendrick Medical Center South.
