Lynn A. Woolf, 86, died Tuesday, July 14, 2015 in Abilene, Texas.
Visitation will be 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 17, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. There will be a procession to Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene for the committal service to be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday officiated by Bishop Steven Woolf.
Born in Preston, Idaho on June 26, 1929, Lynn was the son of Bertha Laverna (Packer) and James Woolf, Jr. He married Wilma Stroud on December 8, 1951 in Waco, Texas. Lynn served from September 28, 1948 to July 31, 1976 in the U.S. Air Force, retiring with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Following his military retirement, he worked in Abilene for Case Equipment Co. for 18 years as bookkeeper. He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Dale Woolf; his parents; six brothers, Cloyd, Eldon, Sherman, Clyde, Max and Merlin Woolf; and six sisters, Ruby Sharp, Buna Tate, Verda Mecham, Greta Camp, Orpha Morgan and Emma Woolf.
Lynn is survived by his wife, Wilma Woolf of Abilene; two sons, Steven Woolf and wife Karen of Fairview Heights, Illinois, and Pat Woolf and wife Carol of Fort Worth, Texas; a daughter, Linda Anderson and husband Lincoln of Jenks, Oklahoma; and five grandchildren.
