Cloise Ellis “C.E.” Clemmer, 89, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2015 in Abilene, Texas.
Visitation will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel. Interment in Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene will be private.
Cloise was born June 17, 1926 in Hamby, Texas to Robert Edward Clemmer and Jessie Bell Windland Clemmer. He attended school in Hamby and Clyde. Cloise was the oldest living member of the Hamby United Methodist Church where he was baptized on May 11, 1939. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army from 1944 to 1946. After returning home, he continued farming and was the owner/operator of Clemmer Monument Works for 55 years.
Cloise was preceded in death by his wife, Louise R. M. Clemmer; and ten siblings, Everett, Ernest, Nita, Oleta, Maxine, Bill, Don, Floyd, Elvie and Robert “R.E.”.
Cloise is survived by his daughter, Jody Cory and husband Cody of Hawley, and grandchildren, Emily (Marcus) Cory Johnson, Colin and Conner Cory; daughter, Shannon Bishop and husband Dennis of Rockwall, Texas, and grandchildren, Kristin (Jason) Yager, Ross (Rachel) Bishop, and Brooke (Anthony) Connell; daughter, Heidi Ressmann and husband Kirk of Tyler, and grandchildren, Megan (Ingo) Hauptmann and Lindsey (Anthony) Scirto; son, Clay Clemmer and wife Jennifer of Tyler, and grandchildren, Trenton and Talon Clemmer; and six great-grandchildren, Gracie, Avery, Marshall, Lily, Hunter, and David . Survivors also include one sister, Verna Jo Gabbard of Indiana; one sister-in-law, Recia Clemmer of Midland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family expresses special thanks to Hendrick Hospice, Mary Beth Slaughter, Clearfork Baptist Church, Hamby United Methodist Church, and many helpful and supportive family and friends.
