Clinton Doyle Maxwell, 82, of Abilene passed away on June 2, 2017 in Abilene, Texas. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm Monday June 5, 2017 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, Texas. Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Baker Heights Church of Christ with Gary Montgomery and Ron McElyea officiating. Burial will follow at Eastland Cemetery at 2:30 pm in Eastland, Texas. Arrangements are by The Hamil Family Funeral Home. Doyle was born in Luther, Texas to Michael Berry Maxwell and Florence Gertrude Massey on October 22,1934. He graduated from University of Texas in Arlington, Texas with a degree in Industrial Electrical Engineering. He married Rhama Carol Latson on February 1, 1955. He worked as a manager for Texas Utilities for 44 years. He served in the National Guard for eight years. He received the Golden Deeds Award from the Chamber of Commerce in Eastland, he was a Rotarian, Chamber of Commerce President in Breckenridge and worked on "Christmas in Spring" where they worked on houses that need to be repaired. He served on the hospital board in Breckenridge and in Eastland. Doyle served as a Deacon and Elder at 14th and Main Church of Christ in Big Spring, Texas, Daughtery Church of Christ in Eastland, Texas, the Church of Christ in Breckenridge, Texas, and Baker Heights Church of Christ in Abilene, Texas. He was a Deacon at Scotland Hills Church of Christ and Brown Trail Church of Christ in Hurst, Texas. He taught numerous Bible classes at all of them and preached for two years at Eliasville Church of Christ. Doyle was preceded in death by his daughter Patricia, and 3 brothers, Ewell, Chester, and M.B Maxwell, 3 sisters, Ila Mae Dunning, Dorothy Coleman, and Tylene Snyder. Doyle is survived by his wife Rhama Maxwell, daughters Dena Heaton and husband Ron Heaton of Abilene, Debora Alexander and husband Terry Alexander of Forney, Sue Whaley, and husband Bill Whaley of Eastland. His brother Fowden Maxwell and wife Ruth Maxwell of College Station. Ten grandchildren, Jason Hearon, Kristi Landeros and husband Johnny Landeros, Zachary Alexander and wife Krystle Alexander, Stephanie Warner and husband Shane Warner, Caleb Gulley, Mackenzie Gulley, Julie Moore, Rhett Whaley, Lexie Whaley and Payton Whaley. Ten great grandchildren, Preston Hearon, Kaden Landeros, Jazlyn Landeros, Addison Hearon, Baylee Alexander, Kiley Landeros, Evan Alexander, Mathias Warner, Hannah Moore, and Hailey Moore. Pallbearers will be Jason Hearon, Caleb Gulley, Payton Whaley, Shane Warner, Johnny Landeros, Austin Kent and Zachary Alexander. Honorary Pallbearers are Jerry Smith, Sonny Goode, Charles Payne, Phil Madley, Jesse Pharis, Zane Dennis, Ron Heaton, Terry Alexander, and Bill Whaley. Memorials may be given to Hendricks Hospice Center, 1651 Pine St., Abilene, Texas 79601; Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn St., Dallas, Texas 75219; or a children's home of your choice.
