Clifton Noel Thomas

Clifton Noel Thomas, age 92, formerly of Kress, Texas, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018 in Abilene, Texas.

A private service will be held in Abilene.  Graveside services will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 1:00 p.m., at Plainview Memorial Park in Plainview, Texas, under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.

Mr. Thomas was born in Hale Center, Texas, December 11, 1926 to Roy Lee Thomas and Christena Guyer Thomas. He went to school at Iowa Avenue neighborhood school and later Abernathy Public Schools, graduating from the high school in 1944. After serving in the Armed Forces in Japan as World War II ended, he married Audell King at Hale Center, Texas on February 26, 1949. The couple farmed near Hale Center before moving to Swisher County, farming for 60 years 12 ½ miles west of Kress. They moved to a retirement home in Lubbock and then to Covenant Place in Abilene in 2016.

Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Raymond Thomas, Norman Thomas and Warren Thomas and his daughter, Twyla Miranda.

He is survived by his wife, three children, Layne Thomas and wife Pamela of Austin, Laura Templeton and husband Steve of Abilene and Tracy Thomas and wife Susan of Lubbock, one sister, Hazel Nelson of Dimmitt, ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to Children’s Home of Lubbock.
