Clayton Wilson Shipp, 76, of Abilene, died Saturday, March 20, 2010 at a local nursing home.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, officiated by Bishop Dennis White.
The son of Retta Bell (Wilson) and Marshall Lafayette Shipp, Clayton was born on March 31, 1933 in Hamlin, Texas. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict. Five years ago, he moved from Breckenridge to Abilene. Clayton was a electrician, having worked for U.S. Borax 17-1/2 years and General Dynamics. He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Clayton was loved by many and will always be remembered. He was predeceased by his parents; brother Kenneth; and wife Lovey Shipp (1991).
Survivors include his daughter, Tahama Barba and Emilio, of Abilene; brother, Roy Lynn Shipp and wife Joyce of Ballard, Texas; sister, Janet Thompson and husband Vic of Azle, Texas; grandchildren, Dare Maya, Carah Maya, Bryana Barba and Elyssa Barba; and five great-grandchildren.
