Claudia Mashburn Thompson, 101, of Abilene, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2006 at a local nursing center. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 19 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Stith Cemetery in Jones County.
Claudia was born on January 25, 1905 to James and Molly (Arthur) Latham in Bell County, Texas. She married Carl Vestel Mashburn on September 25, 1923 in Anson, Texas. Mr. Mashburn preceded her in death in 1961. In 1969, Claudia married Edward Thompson in Abilene. Mr. Thompson also preceded Claudia in death in 1994.
Claudia was a homemaker, a member of AARP, attended Rose Park Senior Citizens, and was a member of the Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents, two husbands, one son, Franklin D. Mashburn, three brothers and four sisters. Claudia is survived by two sons, W.J. "Dub" Mashburn and his wife Dolores of Abilene, Lloyd "Buddy" Mashburn, Sr. of Loanoak, Texas, one step-daughter, Evelyn Flores of Abilene, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Memorials may be made in honor of Claudia to the Stith Cemetery Association.
