Claudia Schauer, 78, died Sunday, October 29, 2006 at Windcrest Alzheimer's Care Center. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 3, 2006 at the Spring Hill Cemetery, near her birth place, close to Snyder, Oklahoma. Daryl Terry will officiate.
Claudia was born on February 25, 1928 at the family farm in rural Oklahoma to Joseph Newton and Ida Childress Newton. She married Paul John Brower in 1948 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Mr. Brower passed away in 1966. Claudia later married Max Schauer, who provided her with 29 years of loyal companionship.
Claudia was a wonderful mother, wife, sister, aunt and friend. She loved to sew and cook. She was a beautiful woman and took particular joy in dancing until the very end of her life. She brought happiness and joy to all who knew her. It was quiet a party and we all will miss her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ida; her father, Joe; her first husband, Paul; her mother-in-law, Grace; her son John, and her grandson, Josh. Claudia is survived by her husband Max of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; one son Paul Brower and his wife Regina of Abilene; one step-son Mitch Schauer and his wife Cindy of Los Angeles, California; two brothers, Joe Newton of Snyder, Oklahoma and Johnny Newton of Indiahoma, Oklahoma; two sisters, Lea Young of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Mabel Harrison of Eureka Springs, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Jason and Matthew Brower; three step-grandchildren, Robert, Stacey and Chelsea Schauer; and one great-granddaughter Lilly Brower. She will be missed, as well, by many nieces, nephews and friends.
