Claudette Dees Carroll, 82, died Thursday, February 8, 2018 in Abilene, Texas.  

The daughter of Ina (May) and Claud L. Dees, Claudette was born on July 17, 1935 in Elgin, Oklahoma.  She married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Barrett Carroll, on August 23, 1952 in the Greenwood Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and took pride in raising her children. She was a member of Elmwood West United Methodist Church.   

Claudette was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star since 1971. She served as Worthy Matron three times and held several grand offices over the years. Claudette enjoyed traveling across the state with her dear friends of the order. The Order of the Easter Star held a very special place in her heart. She was also active with Abilene #86 International Order of the Rainbow for Girls and enjoyed watching her daughter and grand-daughters through the Order. 

Claudette was a talented seamstress. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting. Much of her free time was spent in her sewing room making pieces for her family and friends. She took much pride in what she made. When she wasn’t in her sewing room, she was with her precious children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren playing cards, dominoes and doing puzzles.

Claudette was preceded in death by her husband, Ron, on August 27, 2013; her parents; a brother, Leroy Dees; and a sister, Alene White.

Survivors include her children, Ron Carroll and wife Sherry of Flower Mound, Texas, Mailyn Queen and husband Jimmy of Eula, Texas, and Ricky Carroll of Abilene; seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, February 11, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.  Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 12, at Elmwood West United Methodist Church, Abilene, with Pastor Dare Stevens officiating. Burial will follow at 4:00 p.m. Monday in Greenwood Cemetery in the community of Greenwood, west of Weatherford, TX directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home.

Grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials can made in her memory to Abilene Chapter #30 Order of the Eastern Star or Elmwood West United Methodist Church in Abilene.
