Clarence Lee Siewert, 88, of Abilene, passed away on Wednesday, February 03, 2016 at his residence. Memorial services have been set for 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 5th at the Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Kieschnick officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, February 4th at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene. Private burial will be at The Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene at a later date.
Clarence was born April 11, 1927 in Abilene at the Siewert farm house. He was delivered by Dr. J.D. Magee. The son of Louie & Clara Siewert. He was the last of eight children. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran by Rev. L. Karcher on May 8th 1927. Confirmed April 6th 1941 by Rev. H.L. Wiederanders. He graduated from AHS in 1945 and entered the U.S. Marine Corps in May 1945. He was honorably discharged in August of 1946. He entered HSU and went for two years. Clarence Married Elizabeth Ann Regeon on June 27, 1947 at the Zion Lutheran Parsonage.
Clarence entered the US Postal Service in 1948 as a letter carrier and retired April 1982 as Postal Supervisor. He also worked for Republic Bank from 1982 to 1991 as mail room supervisor until he retired for good in 1991. He enjoyed softball, fishing, traveling, bowling & golf. He made one Hole in One in his lifetime. Also enjoyed table games and was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Clarence is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter; Karen Ann Siewert Yancy, three brothers & three sisters.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Ann Siewert of Abilene; one brother, Alvin Siewert of Abilene; one grandson, Dustin Yancy and wife Courtney of Abilene; two great-grandchildren, Chassidy and Katy; and two great-great-grandchildren, Isbelle and Jackson.
