C. E. "Port" Porter
Clarence Edward Porter, 88, passed away Monday, December 5, 2005 in Abilene. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, December 10 2005, with Chaplain Matthew Incorvaia officiating, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Mr. Porter was born September 12, 1917 in Sparkman, Arkansas to Joe Hunter Porter and Mary Bateman Porter. He married Josephine Nelson on August 15, 1945 in Geneva, Nebraska.
Mr. Porter served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a member of the 98th Bomb Group. He retired after 26 ½ years of service as a Lieutenant Colonel of the United States Air Force. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star. He was also an avid golfer and an active member of Maxwell Golf Course, which was "his home away from home."
Mr. Porter was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Josephine Porter, in July of 2005. He is survived by one son, Ed Porter and his wife Carol of Abilene; two daughters, Juanita Randolph and her husband Sterling of Granbury, Texas, Gerrie Orpe and her husband Wayne of Calgary, Canada; two brothers, Horton Porter and his wife Ruth of Seymore, Texas, Grady Porter and his wife Betty of Greenwood, Arkansas; one sister Jo Ashmore of Mariposa, California; four grandchildren, Debbie Coody and her husband Kyle of Plano, Texas, Scott Randolph and his wife Elaine of Odessa, Texas, Natalie White and her husband Bob of Washington, D.C., Julia Bramblett and her husband Will of Clinton, Illinois; and three great grandchildren, Parker and Pierceson Coody and Alexis Randolph.
Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
