Clara Elizabeth Riewe

Clara E. Riewe, 89, died Thursday, November 23, 2006 in Abilene. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 27, 2006 at the Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Clyde Kieschnick officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. on Monday in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Pottsville, Texas. Clara was born on February 18, 1917 in Sagerton, Texas to Fredrick and Amalia (Boedecker) Nierdieck. She attended Texas Lutheran College where she graduated with an Associates degree. In 1951, Clara moved to Abilene from Early, Texas. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and was active in LWML?Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Emanuel W. Riewe, two sisters and one brother. Clara is survived by two sons, Cliff Riewe and his wife Rita of Abilene, Victor Riewe and his wife Mariam of Houston; one daughter, Linda Smith and her husband Bryan of Abilene; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Scottie Smith, Philip Riewe, Steven Riewe, David Riewe, Steve McNally, Jerry Veal and Dalton Veal will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made in honor of Clara Riewe to Windcrest Alzheimer's Care Center, 6050 Hospital Drive, Abilene, Texas, 79606 or to Zion Lutheran Capitol Fund Drive, 2801 Antilley Road, Abilene, Texas 79606.
