Sergeant Christopher Scott "Chris" Norris, U.S. Army, passed from our lives on Thursday, December 4, 2008 in Abilene, Texas. Chris was a brilliant young man with unlimited potential who put a smile on the face of everyone he met. He lived life like he wanted to enjoy every minute. Chris was born on January 28, 1987 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He moved to Abilene shortly thereafter to be close to his Nana and grew up in Abilene until he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Growing up, Chris was active in sports, especially baseball, where he once slammed four home runs in one game at Redbud Park. Prior to his graduation from Cooper High School in 2005, Chris began to focus on his future and decided to join the U.S. Army after graduation. He excelled as a soldier and unselfishly served our country in Iraq. After his return from his tour of duty, he was stationed at Fort Hood in Killeen and had just recently completed recruiter training school. He had been recently assigned as a hometown recruiter working out of the Abilene office and was very excited about his new assignment. Chris leaves behind many family and friends who will forever miss him.
Chris is survived by his parents, Larry and Brenda Williams of Red Oak, Texas and his grandmother, Charldene Williams, of Abilene.
Services will be held at Broadview Baptist Church in Abilene at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 11, 2008. Burial will follow in Midway Cemetery near Novice, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
