Christeen McDonald

Christeen McDonald, 85, of Abilene, passed away Friday, August 28, 2015. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Burial will follow in the Abilene Municipal Cemetery, Cedar Hill Section. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. Christeen was born in DeLeon, Texas to W.C. and Julia Pauline (Skaggs) Winkles on September 12, 1929. She worked as an inspector for Timex for 25 years and had also worked or Hobart Sales for 10 years. Christeen married Willis Allen McDonald, Jr. in Baird, Texas on May 11, 1978. He preceded her in death in 2009. She was also preceded in death by her father and step-mother, W.C. and Roxie Winkles; mother and step-father, Pauline and Johnny Hartford; and her brother, Bobby Gail Winkles. She is survived by her children, Carolyn Roberts and husband Jim of Canton, Michigan and Barbara Brown of Supply, North Carolina; W.A.’s children, Kristy Gardner of Abott; Cathy Beal and husband Mike of Gig Harbor, Washington; Vicky Bowser and husband Lee of Alexander, Arkansas; and Gary McDonald of Abilene; ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her beloved cat Smoky. Memorials may be made in Christeen’s honor to Rescue the Animals, 4620 North 1st Street, Abilene, Texas 79603.
