Chief Ronald Franklin Hoover (Ret.), 76, of Abilene, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018. A committal service with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, May 14, 2018 at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, 7457 West Lake Road. Rev. David Cason will officiate. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Ron was born April 9, 1942 in Granite City, Illinois to Franklin and Mary (Azari) Hoover. Chief Hoover served in the United States Air Force for 31 years. Ron married Margaret Ann Porter on December 20, 1965 in Clyde, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Richard and Roger Hoover and one sister, Marlene Painter.
Ron is survived by his wife, Margaret of Abilene; two daughters, Renee Dick of Fairbanks, Alaska and Aimee Woodke of Abilene; one granddaughter, Kirstin Sanford of Abilene; and one sister, Karen Graham of Granite City, Illinois.
Memorials may be made in Ron’s honor to the First Baptist Church of Buffalo Gap.
