Cheryl Lynn Smith
Cheryl Lynn Smith passed away Thursday, May 10, 2007 at a local hospital at the age of 60. Funeral services, with Rev. Larry Tarver officiating, will be at 10:00 am on Saturday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Cheryl was born on March 15, 1947 to William Lewis Tarver and Alyce (Phoebe) Lucille (Foster) Tarver in Abilene, Texas. She graduated from Midland High School in 1965. She received her degree in Elementary Education from Texas Tech University in 1969, where she graduated Magna Cum Lade. Cheryl furthered her education and graduated from North Texas University with a Masters Degree in Library Science. She was a Librarian at Dyess, Plano and Allen Independent School Districts.
April 21, 1994, Cheryl married Charles Smith in Love, Oklahoma. In 2003, the couple moved to Abilene from Frisco, Texas. Cheryl was a member of the First Christian Church.
Cheryl's mother, Phoebe Bradshaw, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Charles L. Smith of Abilene; her father, Bill Tarver of Rockport, Texas; two sons, Thomas E. Smith and his wife Justine of Killeen, Texas, and Matthew L. Smith of Houston, Texas; one sister, Billie Nordmeyer of Fort Worth, Texas; and one granddaughter, Makayla Smith.
