Cheryl Cress

Cheryl Dennison Cress, 75 of Abilene, TX passed away February 4, 2021 in Abilene, TX.  A private funeral service will be held Saturday February 13th with Rev. Doug Roysdon of Wylie Christian Church, officiating.  Burial will follow at a later date in Center Point, Iowa.

Cheryl was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Vernon Dennison and Evelyn Klima Dennison on February 3, 1946.  She graduated from Center Point High School in 1964.  She then graduated from Radiology school at St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  She married her high school sweetheart Jack Cress on May 13, 1967.  They had two sons, Travis and Kyle Cress.  They moved to Abilene, TX where she worked as a Radiation Therapist at Hendrick Medical Center for 39 years until retirement.  Cheryl was an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority for many years and enjoyed working with her sorority Sisters serving the community in various volunteering capacities.  She was also an active member of Wylie Christian Church.  She spent much of her time during retirement doing community service with her sorority sisters and church.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren watching and cheering for them in their sports and academic activities. 

Parents Vernon and Evelyn Dennison and her husband Jack Cress preceded Cheryl in death. 

Cheryl is survived by her children Travis and Kyle Cress, her brother Terry Dennison, grandchildren; Zachary, Talon, Jackson, Cade, Ethan, Carter and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the health care workers of the ICU and LTACH at Hendrick Hospital.
