Charlsie Ann (Kirby) Langford, 82, of Dallas, TX, passed away on November 25, 2015 in Abilene, Texas.
The family will be accepting visitors at noon on Saturday, November 28, 2015, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Funeral services will immediately follow at 1 pm with grandchildren, Sharyl West Loeung and Ben West officiating. Entombment will follow at a later date at Crown Hill Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Dallas, Texas. Arrangements are made by The Hamil Family Funeral Home.
Charlsie was born in Crimora, Virginia to Rev. Jacob Henry and Hattie (Shaner) Kirby on July 14, 1933. She graduated from Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Virginia. She married Johnny Marsh Langford on December 28, 1961 at Wilshire Baptist Church in Dallas, TX. She worked as a choral director for both Dallas Independent School District as well as several private schools in the area. Two of her favorite Bible verses were from Philippians. “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain (1:21),” and “I can do all this through him who gives me strength (4:13).”
Charlsie was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny; her brothers, Joseph, Warner, and Samuel Kirby; her sisters, Mazie Wampler, Lydia Obaugh, Edna Wiseman, and Ruth Anderson.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Glenn West of Abilene, TX. Her stepson and daughter-in-law, David and Wanda Langford of Gilmer; her sisters, Margaret Miller of Pleasant Gap, PA., and Barbara Bousman of Garner N.C.; Her five grandchildren Sharyl West Loeung, Chris Langford, Benjamin West, Andrew West, and Brianna West; and a great-grandchild, Chaim Loeung.
The family would like to give special thanks to Mesa Springs Retirement Village staff, particularly her nurses at Mesa Springs Rehab and Nursing Home, her faithful friend, Betty Pena, and Kinder Hearts Home Health and Hospice.
