Charlotte Elizabeth Davis Rose

Charlotte Elizabeth Rose, 79, a longtime resident of Abilene, passed away on May 21, 2010 at Hendrick Medical Center. The daughter of Lois Watkins and Lee Davis, Charlotte was born on February 5, 1931 in Minden, Louisiana. Charlotte grew up in Texarkana, Texas, moved to Abilene and graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in 1952. She met and married her husband of 44 years Earl Glenn Rose. They lived in Dallas and Galveston where she taught elementary school before moving back to Abilene for Earl to work for Rose Construction Company. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. Her gift was her life to all who knew her, centered around her faith and love of Jesus Christ. "Her children stand and bless her." Proverbs 31:28. Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Glenn Rose, in 1998; daughter, Rebecca Rose Gunn, in 2000; parents; and brother, Charles Lee Davis. Charlotte is survived by her son, Kyle G. Rose of Raleigh, North Carolina; daughters, Judy Sivley and husband, Dr. Mark Sivley, and Kathryn Rose, all of Abilene; son-in-law, George Gunn and wife Kelli Gunn and son Jackson of Dallas; four grandchildren, Lauren Gunn, Caroline Gunn, Matthew Sivley and Jonathan Sivley; and a great-granddaughter, Brooklynne Sivley and her mother Amber White. Survivors also include two brothers, Bryant Davis and wife, Rosemary, Jerry Davis and Suzie, and sister-in-law, Jan King, all of Texarkana; and brother-in-law, Jim Rose and wife, Karen, and sister-in-law, Sue Henninger and husband, Dean, all of Abilene and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Sivley home, 1234 Elmwood Drive, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 23, 2010. A private interment will be held in the Garden of Memories Cemetery on Monday. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 24, at First Baptist Church, 1333 North 3rd, Abilene, with Dr. Phil Christopher officiating under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to First Baptist Church Missions Ministry, P O Box 85, Abilene, Texas 79604, or Hendrick Hospice Care, 1682 Hickory St., Abilene, Texas 79601.
