Charles E. Byrd

Charles E. “Chuck” Byrd, 85, of Abilene, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 in Abilene.

Private family services with Military Honors will be held at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene. Arrangements are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home.

Chuck was born on September 2, 1933 in Hobart, Oklahoma.  He and Patsy Ruth Farrell were married on June 24, 1955 in Littlefield, Texas. Chuck served in the military for over 21 years in both the Marines and the Air Force. While in the service, he served in Korea and Vietnam. After retiring from the Air Force, he was a machinist for Lockheed Martin. Chuck was an avid bowler and loved to tinker with things. He had a sense of humor that was infectious to all. He was a loving husband and father. After he and Pat were married, Chuck accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He served his Lord faithfully for over 61 years. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and had served as a deacon at Hodges Baptist church. Chuck and Pat moved to Abilene in 1974.

He was preceded in death by his parents Horace and Rachel Byrd. 

Chuck is survived by his wife, Patsy of Abilene; one daughter, Kathy Byrd of Toltec, Arizona; two sons, Michael Byrd and wife Trina of Garland, Texas and Tim Byrd of California; one grandson, Sean Byrd and wife Jessica of Plano, Texas; one granddaughter, Amber Byrd; and four great grandchildren.
